Brittney S. Harris is an Assistant Professor of Applied Theatre and Co-Director of Research at the Center for Communicating Science at Virginia Tech. With over a decade of experience, her work focuses on Race and Performance, Performance as Activism, and Community-Centered Theatre. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Acting with an emphasis on Cultural Enrichment from the University of Georgia.
Brittney’s interdisciplinary scholarship, rooted in Performance as Research (PaR) methodologies, examines the impact of vicarious trauma from social media and the transformative power of storytelling in fostering resilience and redemption. She channels this work into immersive projects that blend storytelling, collective activism, and community engagement to address critical social narratives and personal identity.
